Inspiration: Inspired from Colonia Americana, Guadalajara, Mexico.

Colonia Americana was awarded as the best neighborhood in 2022 + 2024 and its history dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. It is an emblematic neighborhood characterized by its Art Deco and modernist architecture -including some houses designed by the laureate architect Luis Barragán-, and the majestic Parroquia El Expiatorio del Santísimo Sacramento, an impressive neo-Gothic church.

Tropicalia immediately caught my eye for its bright neon pink, against the bright white facade with the cast of shadows from the mid day sun. The storefront was not opened at this time as the owners were enjoying their afternoon "siesta "time. The Mexican siesta has deep cultural roots and serves an important purpose as to take a mid-day nap or break to escape the hottest hours of the day and recharge for the afternoon.
