Inspiration: Coyoacán, CDMX, México City, Mexico 

We spent three days in Coyoacán (meaning the place of coyotes in Nahuatl) which is a relatively quiet neighborhood in Mexico City.  Formerly a rural village, Coyoacán has become a rich pocket of art and history in the capital of Mexico. Coyoacán is where Frida Kahlo spent most of her life, having lived in the same house until her death in 1954. 

Taking inspiration from this incredible barrio in CDMX, I created 4 studies (work on paper) while in residency in Oaxaca, Mexico. Once returned back in Canada, the studies were gallery framed/matted and available for collection. They are on of a kind, and represent the vibrant colours, architecture and pulse of Coyoacán,
